Design and Technology

This Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in Design and Technology 36WK course leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). It is identical to the University of Reading’s course 2LYQ.

Applicants to our course will be interviewed by The Bracknell Forest Partnership and, if successful, train in two of our ITE Hub schools. They will  become members of the University and follow the same training as the University students.

Design & Technology is offered across the partnership from Key Stage 3 up to Key Stage 5.

At Key Stage 3 pupils receive training on Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Graphics and Textiles with a wide variety of theory and practical learning.

At Key Stage 4, GCSE Food Technology, Graphics and Resistant Materials are taught and a Level 3 course in Food Science and Nutrition is available to our sixth form students.

You will be given the opportunity to teach across the key stages and material areas, giving you a range of teaching experiences and opening up a variety of career paths.

A number of after school activities also take place ranging from the KS4 students who are currently building their own 3-D printer to a baking club for younger students.

If you love design technology and relish the challenge of expanding your experience in all aspects of the subject then please do apply.
